A wrestling singlet, also known as just “Singlet”, is a one-piece, tight-fitting, colored uniform, usually made of spandex/lycra, or nylon, used in amateur wrestling. The uniform is tight fitting so as not to get grasped accidentally by one's opponent, and allows the referee to see each wrestler's body clearly when awarding points or a pin. Unlike judo, it is illegal to grasp an opponent's clothing in all styles of amateur wrestling
International Wrestling: Freestyle and Greco-Roman. Wrestlers bring a red and a blue singlet (or reversible singlet) and are told before the match which color to wear.
Wrestling shoes are active wear used in competition and practice for the sport of wrestling. Generally extremely light and flexible, they try to mimic the bare foot, while providing slightly more traction and ankle support and less chance of contracting a disease or hurting the opponent with exposed toe nails. As a result, wrestling shoes tend to have a high top design to provide ankle support and cushioning. There are also higher arches in wrestling shoes to keep the athlete on their toes more to allow more speed.
Wrestling shoes are made of lightweight synthetics, often with mesh uppers, and have rubber soles to prevent slipping on the mat. The shoes must be flexible to allow your feet to move into any position without pinching or discomfort while in a match. Some brands incorporate mesh into the shoes' design to prevent the shoes from becoming heavy with sweat.
